William Thomas Van Til

March 24, 1947 — December 30, 2023

William “Bill” Van Til 76 years old of Pierson, MI. went on to his heavenly home December 30, 2023, surrounded by family and loving friends.


Bill was born March 24, 1947 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was proud to be a Marine. He was employed at American Seating for 43 years and served two years as Pierson Township Supervisor. Bill was a faithful member of Crossfire Church where he was close friends with his Pastors Keith and Judy Hemmila and Pastor Steven Swanson. Crossfire was a second home filled with people he loved.  He enjoyed camping, hunting, and traveling with his family. He had a special interest in all aircraft. He shared his love of Lake Michigan “Lady Blue” with friends and family. Bill loved having his friends and family gather around a stack of his delicious, famous pancakes. He enjoyed any reason to bring loved ones together. He smiled with his whole heart and was quick with an encouraging word or a healing hug. Wild Willy was known for his lighthearted sense of humor, love of life and people, and he never met a stranger. Bill had an abundance of love for God, family and friends.


Survived by his loving wife of 54yrs Marla. His sons Cory (Kimberly) Van Til and Chad (Nichole) Van Til. Daughters Cara (Ray) Sutliffe and Cali Van Til. His 10 grandchildren whom he was so proud of Trenten, Joslyn, Ethan, Jaiden, Daisy, Wyatt, Brody, Rogan, Araya and Rylyn. His daughter by choice Maria Nametz, as well as his amazing extended family of precious sisters and brothers -in-love. Many very dear nieces and nephews and numerous loved deeply precious friends.


UPDATE:

Due to the weather, Bill's Celebration of life has been rescheduled for January 27, 2024 at Crossfire Church, Rockford. 10 AM will be fellowship with family and friends service at 11AM. Luncheon at Pierson Bible Church in Pierson at 1 PM.
