William Margetson

March 8, 1972 — September 8, 2024

William George Margetson, Jr., affectionately known as Billy, Bill or News to his friends and family, left this world on September 9, 2024, at the age of 52. Born on March 8, 1972, in Lansing, Michigan, Bill was a life-long resident of Michigan and passed away peacefully in Grand Rapids. Bill's early life in Lansing was filled with the joy of discovery and the warmth of a loving family. He attended Perry High School where he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. After graduation, he embarked on a fulfilling career with Leisure Time Amusement Park and Skerbeck Brother Shows, where he was a ride supervisor and a booth agent. Leisure Time & Skerbeck Brothers were not only his career, but they were also his family. News was a proud and true Showman for almost three decades and will be missed by so many! Bill was known for his love of gaming, a world apart from daily noise. He loved Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. He also loved to debate just about anything with you. Bill leaves behind his daughter, Tiffany Warren, sister Melissa Margetson, niece, Sammantha (Deven) Stone and great-nephews Levi (2) and Colton (1). Bill's family extended beyond blood relations, including his special relationship with Xavier Lancaster (11) among so many others. Bill was preceded in death by his Father William Margetson, SR and Mother JoAnn Margetson.

As we bid farewell to Bill, we remember a man whose life was marked by an unyielding positivity, a sharp mind, and a generous heart. His ability to bring laughter and light into any room will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. Bill's story is not one of sorrow, but a celebration of a life well-lived and a man well-loved. In honoring Bill's life, we reflect on the memories we shared, the conversations that challenged us, and the enduring impact he made on our lives. His legacy is not in the things he left behind, but in the kindness he spread, the wisdom he imparted, and the love he gave so freely. William George Margetson, Jr.'s journey on earth has concluded, but his spirit remains with us, guiding and inspiring. As we gather to commemorate his life, let us hold on to the essence of what made Bill such a remarkable person—the joy, the camaraderie, and the unforgettable moments that define his enduring legacy.
