William "Bill" Bergin, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on June 30, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on September 22, 1947, in Grand Rapids, MI, Bill was a man whose kindness and hard work left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
Bill was known for his warm-hearted nature and a quick wit that often filled family gatherings with laughter. He had a unique talent for coming up with clever one-liners that reminded those around him of the joy in life's simple moments. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be forever held close in the hearts of his family.
An avid sports enthusiast, Bill enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and cheering for the University of Michigan and Detroit Lions football teams. His love for outdoor activities, particularly hunting and fishing, defined many treasured moments shared with loved ones amidst nature's serenity.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley; his son, Matthew and daughter-in-law, Melissa; his daughter, Catie (Sneeden) and son-in-law, Art; his daughter, Andrea (Trzinski), and son-in-law, Josh; and his beloved grandchildren Seyi, Deji, Winston, Maxwell, Aidan, Annika, and Mason.
Bill was also the proud brother of Robert Bergin and Phyllis Patrick and the cherished brother to his late siblings, Sonny Bergin and Rosemary VanDyke. His family and friends were the core of his life, and the bonds he formed will resonate in their hearts forever.
Bill Bergin's legacy of love, laughter, and hard work will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit lives on through his family, who will carry his memories and values forward.
A celebration of life for Bill will be held on August 3rd from 3-5 at Casino Club of Grand Rapids (3260 Salerno Dr NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525)
