Reception to Follow
Willard Lee Jennings, a beloved pillar of the Allegan community, passed away peacefully at his home in Allegan, Michigan, on May 31, 2026. Born on November 19, 1933, at home on the same street where he would later depart this life, Willard’s journey was marked by devotion, hard work, and unwavering service to others.
A lifelong resident of Allegan, Willard’s remarkable commitment to his community was reflected in many aspects of his life. He was the longest-serving member of the Allegan United Methodist Church, a testament to his deep faith and dedication. His service extended beyond his spiritual community as he devoted twenty years to the Allegan Fire Department, embodying courage and readiness to help those in need. Furthermore, Willard contributed significantly as a longtime board member of the Allegan Credit Union. He also cherished his time with the Port-a-bed Camping Group, enjoying friendships and the outdoors.
Willard’s career was distinguished by his diligence and loyalty. He retired after years of service at Rockwell International as a shipping clerk and later from Perrigo Co., always bringing a strong work ethic to every role he embraced.
His character shone through in his personal life. Known for the twinkle in his eye and a charming dimple, Willard led a life devoted to servitude—whether for his family, community, or church. Beyond his serious commitments, he was a fierce card player, engaging friends and family alike with skill and good spirit.
Willard honored his country as a draftee and soldier in the United States Army, reflecting his sense of duty beyond the local community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Judith Jennings, whose partnership was a cornerstone of his life. Their children, James (Deb) Jennings of Allegan, Jeffrey (Lisa) Jennings of Wyoming, Joel (Robin) Jennings of Hamilton, and Julie (Art) Ziemelis of Allegan, carry forward his legacy, as do his grandchildren: Justin, Kim, Brad, Melissa, Madison, Emma, Carson, Allie, Mikus, Ellija, Rudis, Noah, and McClane, along with 13 great-grandchildren. They remember him fondly and with profound respect.
Willard was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jordan Bishop, and his sisters, Rosie Jennings and Rachal Wait, who remain dearly remembered in the hearts of the family.
Willard Jennings’ life was one of steadfast dedication—to family, faith, and community. His legacy endures, not only through the institutions and friendships he nurtured but most importantly through the love and memories held by those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever revered.
