Wayne "Buddy" Thrall

Wayne "Buddy" Thrall, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the age of 56. Born on November 8, 1967, in Shelbyville, Indiana, Buddy was known for his passion for life, his infectious humor, and his amiable nature that drew people to him.

Buddy spent his professional life dedicated to his work as a CNC operator and truck driver. His strong work ethic and commitment to his trade were evident to all who worked alongside him. He was a valued team member wherever he worked, and his contributions will be remembered by his colleagues and friends in the industry.

Outside of work, Buddy was a man of many interests and talents. He had a lifelong love of cars, and could often be found under the hood, working on an engine or sharing his knowledge with others. His love for NASCAR was more than a hobby; it was a passion that brought him joy and excitement. Country music was the soundtrack of his life, and his love for the genre was part of what made him the person so many loved.

Buddy was a jack of all trades, a testament to his curious mind and his willingness to learn and try new things. No challenge was too big for him, and this attitude was an inspiration to his family and friends.

Above all, Buddy was a family man. He is survived by his loving children: Amanda (Kevin) Schlee, Wayne Van Dusen, Quentin (Hanna) Thrall, and Shavelle Johnson. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Calvin, Ashtyn, Brittany Schlee; Bentley, Gracie, Benjamin, Faith Thrall; and Junior Johnson. His legacy continues through them, and they will carry forward the lessons he taught through his actions and his unconditional love.

Those who knew Buddy will remember him as a passionate soul, always ready with a joke to brighten someone's day, and a friendly word for everyone he met. His presence could light up a room, and his departure leaves a void that will be felt by many.

Buddy's life was a tapestry of moments filled with laughter, hard work, and love. As we say goodbye, we celebrate the time we had with him and the memories we will forever hold dear. He lived a life true to himself, and in doing so, showed others the power of authenticity and kindness.
