Wanda Ponshair

January 5, 1930 — October 29, 2023

Wanda Jo Hall Ponshair née Bennett went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 29th, 2023 at the age of 93.

Wanda was born January 5th, 1930 to the late Gerald and Mabel Bennett in Sterling, CO, the oldest of 4 sisters. After graduating from Coopersville High School in 1947, she worked for Guardsman Products as a secretary at their headquarters.

Wanda married George Hall, took a break from the corporate world and had five children (Susan, Lois, Christine, Tracy, and Jack). She returned to the Guardsman offices in the 1970s where she continued to work until she retired. Wanda, an avid typist boasted a 120 WPM typing speed and after her retirement (between taking care of her elderly parents, and her active grandchildren) wrote two books- one a family history detailing stories of several generations of Bennetts and the other a book she titled “Funny, Dumb Stuff”. Wanda was a life-long member of the Church of Christ.

Always quick with a smile, Wanda enjoyed poking fun at herself. In speaking of her second-chance meeting with her second husband Richard Ponshair (they had known each other first in High school), she told the newspaper that Richard had come into the Coopersville Museum where she volunteered for years “looking for an antique… he found me.” They were married shortly after this chance encounter in 1999.

Wanda is preceded in death by George, Christine, her parents, and her sister Karen.

Wanda is survived by her husband Richard, by her children Susan Stanley (Monty), Lois Courson (Andy), Tracy Hall, Jack Hall (Marsha), and Kathy Kwiatkowski (Paul). She is also survived by 2 sisters, her grandchildren Angela, Aileen, Bryan, Rob, Amber, Jennifer, Ryan, Phil, Abigail, Emily, Evan, Alex, Chani, and Greg. As well as her 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Grandville Church of Christ at 3725 44th St SW, Grandville, MI on November 11th at 1PM.
