Viola “Vi” Mae Seelman (Northrup) of Lansing, MI, passed away peacefully on 2/3/2026 at the age of 89, surrounded by loved ones in her home.
Born on 12/8/1936 in Alma, MI, she lived a life rooted in love, family, and quiet strength. She was the heart of her family — a steady presence whose kindness, wisdom, and warmth touched everyone who knew her.
Viola had a gift for making people feel cared for. Whether through her cooking, her stories, her laughter, or simply her presence, she made home feel like home. She cherished time with her family and found joy in the simple moments — Quilting, sewing, cooking, gardening, cleaning, and flower arranging.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Ina Northrup of St Louis, MI, her daughter Lavonda VanNote. Her sister Evelyn (Frank) Ester.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years Robert “Bob” Seelman, her loving children: Steve (Sharon) VanNote, Lisa (Ken) Sheldon, Tresa (Jerry) Malek, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. All of whom will carry her love and lessons with them forever.
A celebration of her life will be held on March 7, 2026 from 3pm-6pm at
