Thomas Robert Stockdale

Thomas Robert Stockdale, born on October 4, 1946, in Allegan, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, just shy of his 79th birthday. A dedicated husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, Thomas enriched the lives of all who had the privilege to know him.

A Vietnam Veteran, Thomas served honorably as a Military Policeman in the United States Army. His strong work ethic and commitment to service extended into his civilian life, where he enjoyed a successful career as a millwright at General Motors, earning respect for his skill and dedication.

Thomas's passions were diverse, and he embraced the outdoors with enthusiasm. He loved to golf, fish, and walk the beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama, always seeking the warmth of the sun. A man of many talents, he was also an avid coin collector, a skilled hunter, and found great joy in gardening, canning, and repairing things around the house. He took immense pleasure in camping trips with family, in teaching his grandchildren about his hobbies, always looking for new opportunities to learn and share his knowledge with them.

His personality was defined by his hard-working spirit, brilliance, and profound love for his family. Thomas’s proudest accomplishments included his family, his home, and his well-earned retirement. He was a devoted husband to Gail Ann (DeKilder) Stockdale for over 55 years.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Gail; his daughter, Kelly Trow; his son, Shawn (Stefanie) Stockdale; his sister, Carol (Mike) Gooding; his brother, Don Stockdale; and his treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of love and learning.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gail Stockdale.

Thomas Robert Stockdale will be remembered not only for his many hobbies and accomplishments but also for the indelible mark he left on his family and friends. His love of life and dedication to those he cared for will serve as a lasting inspiration to all who knew him.
