Tom was born on January 18, 1953, in Brainerd, MN to Eugene Alan Peterson and Norma Lorraine Peterson. He graduated from Barrington H.S. in Barrington, IL in 1971 and briefly attended Western Illinois University before joining the work force with AT&T. Tom worked for AT&T for over 40 years which included working the Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah and the Olympics in Torino, Italy. His work was highly trained and extremely technical, including years of special training.
In his spare time Tom enjoyed skiing, which brought him to Colorado, golfing, and driving on the open road while listeing to classic rock. When not spending time with his family and friends, he loved supporting his daughters' activities and assisting with tending the family horses. Throughout much of his life, Tom was known for his sense of humor, his one-on-one talks, and providing for those he loved. There was never a trip to his parents' house that he wasn't quick to check off a to-do list from his mom, he would have flowers and a card ready for each anniversary with his wife, and he always made sure his daughters were able to pursue their passions.
On June 1st, 2026, Tom entered the Lord's presence. While we miss him dearly, his memory lives on, both in our memories and our hearts. We remember Proverbs 12:28 which says, "In the path of righteousness is life, and in its pathway, there is no death." We lean into our Heavenly Father during this difficult time, knowing that - for believers - a holy reunion awaits us.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Steve & James Peterson and his sister, Roberta Peterson, along with his brother-in-law, Dan Vos and sister-in-law, Debra Amundsen.
Survivors include his wife of 48+ years, Lynn (Amundsen) Peterson, their daughters Kari (JD) Reasoner, Kirsten Peterson (and future son-in-law Garrett Zuercher), sister Vicki Vos, granddaughters Romee, Raylee, Remedy and Ridgley Reasoner, sister-in-law Cynthia Amundsen, brother-in-law Gary Amundsen, nieces and nephews Lisa Peterson, Kristi Vos, Bryan Vos, and Adam Peterson, along with special companions Riggin and Brodie (his pups).
