Steven James Wiersum

September 8, 1982 — October 11, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Steven James Wiersum II, who died on October 11, 2023, at the young age of 41. Steve, as many knew him, was a shining presence in our lives, and his loss has left us heartbroken.

Steve was born on September 8, 1982, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from Saranac High School in 2000, marking the beginning of a promising journey ahead. He became very skilled in framing and carpentry and held the role of site supervisor for Summit Builders, a testament to his dedication to his craft.

In his spare time, Steve enjoyed river kayaking, Frisbee golf, and indulged in his love for miniature model making. Steve was a kind and generous soul who always lent a helping hand to those in need. He had great affection for children and dreamt of one day becoming a father. It was clear to all who knew him that he would have made a fantastic dad.

Steve is survived by his parents, Steve (Lisa) Wiersum and Elisabeth Perdok. Also surviving him are grandparents, Charles (Harriet) Perdok and Barbara Barone; cherished sister, Angela Shoemaker; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Steve was preceded in loving memory by his grandfather, William Wiersum, and his grandmother, Susan Ann Simond (Bilski).

We invite all who knew Steve to join us in celebrating his life on Saturday, October 28, from 2 to 5 pm, at the Moose Lodge #809, located at 1320 E Main St, Lowell, Michigan. It's a time for us to come together, remember the good times, and honor the memory of Steve.
