Steven Louis Garza, born on July 27, 1968 passed away on January 23, 2026 surrounded by family at home. Son of Joseph Garza and Susan Smith-Vanwinkle. Steven graduated from Parchment High School in 1987. He was the Owner of Neon Knights Signs where he worked for several years. He then held various positions in the sign business in different capacities. Most recently he was the Head Chef at Nazarene Wee Care, where he was loved and known as Mr. Steve to the children. He also spread his love of cooking and serving others by serving the seniors at Kalamazoo Story Point. 

Steve loved his Family, Dallas Cowboys, NASCAR, Harley Davidson Motorcycles and some good ole' rock-n-roll. His pride and joy was his family and watching his girls grow and flourish. Steve married the love of his life Gay Strickland on September 17, 2003.

Preceded in death by  parents Joseph Garza, Sue Smith-Vanwinkle, grandparents,  Homer and Petra Osuna and big brother Joseph Homer Garza.

Steven is survived by Spouse Gay Garza and daughters Alyssa Jo and Mackenzie Sue, Sister, Patti Dooley, Uncles Alfonso and Alonzo, several nieces, nephews and several life long friends.

In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place. 

Family will greet visitors at 10:00 am with celebration of Life Service at 11:00 with lunch to follow on Saturday February 7 at Cross Community Church 5625 Oakland Dr. Portage, MI.

Steve will be greatly missed and forever remembered and wants everybody to "give blood", which Steve often reminded us to do during his battle.
