Shelby Jean Hines, a true representation of warmth and kindness, passed away, surrounded by love on December 1, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unbreakable family bonds. She was born on August 2, 1940, in Caruthersville, Missouri. Her journey took her to the heart of Vicksburg, Michigan, where she became an integral part of the Community. Shelby married Herbert Hines on July 18, 1959 in Vicksburg, where they would later raise their family. Her kind spirit was a staple in the City of Vicksburg, where she was a Beloved Friend to everyone she met. Shelby was a living testament to the belief that the most profound impact one can make is through daily acts of kindness and unwavering dedication to the people around them. Her life was a tapestry woven with the threads of connection and care. Shelby was a masterful weaver of family ties, and her most cherished accomplishments were her Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. The love she nurtured within her family blossomed into a beautiful garden of individuals who carry her strength, grace, and compassion forward.


Preceded in death by her are her Beloved Husband- Herbert, Sons- Frank (Jim) and Michael (Mike), her Granddaughter- Nickole (Nikki), Parents- James (Jim) and Cassie, Brothers- Clifford, Donald, and Ivan, as well as her Sister- Mary.


Shelby's legacy is carried on by those who continue to walk the path she lovingly paved. Her Daughter- Laura (Tim) Superczynski, her Grandchildren- Tricia (Vince) Bailey, Jennifer (Chad) Balhoff, Frank (Kate) Hines, Justin (Jessica) Hines, Tim (Lynn) Superczynski, Jeff Macey, Cassondra (Erik) Clark, Michael (Kortney) Hines, and her 14 Great-Grandchildren are the living embodiment of her spirit.

Her Sister- Linda McKinney, Daughters-in-Law Linda Hines and Angela Macey, Special Niece- Shelly Stevens, as well as a host of Nieces, Nephews, and Special Friends, also survive and will profoundly miss Shelby.

Beyond her family, Shelby was known as a Friend to all – a title she held dear. She understood the power of friendship and the importance of building a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. This understanding was evident in every smile she shared, every comforting word she spoke, and every piece of advice she gave. As we remember Shelby, let us not dwell on this loss but be inspired by her example. Let us carry forward her legacy of love, her passion for family, and her unwavering commitment to friendship. Shelby's life reminds us that the true measure of our journey is not in the wealth we accumulate or the accolades we receive, but in the lives we touch and the love we leave behind.
