Scott Charles Underwood, known affectionately as Pa and Scotty, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, in Cedar Springs, Michigan, at the age of 64. He departed this world surrounded by an abundance of love, laughter, and the cherished stories that define his life. Scott walked triumphantly into the Kingdom of Heaven to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Born on August 2, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan, Scott was a man of many talents and a genuinely magnetic presence, leaving an unforgettable mark on everyone he met. Effortlessly cool, he had a rare ability to make anyone laugh in ways no one else could. He had a remarkable gift for giving love when it was needed most, ensuring its effect was long-lasting.
Scott’s passion for the outdoors shone through in all he did. He cherished walking his beloved dogs, Casey and Buddy, through the woods, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spent countless hours gardening, especially while sharing those moments with family and friends. This same hands-on energy and creativity carried into his work and hobbies.
For more than two decades, Scott pursued a career in woodworking, which doubled as a hobby alongside leather crafting, intricate paracord bracelet making, and many other crafts and projects—always keeping his beautiful mind engaged and inspired.
Scott was a drummer and a rocker through and through, loving bands like Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Van Halen, and AC/DC. He loved hockey and baseball, playing in his youth, and took any chance he could to cheer on the Red Wings. He had a special love for fresh fruit, a small but telling joy that reflected his vibrant spirit.
Scott is survived by his daughter, Chelsea Underwood, and his grandson, Samuel Scott Hanks, along with close friends Kevin and Tammy McCarthy, and Aaron and Tina Bass. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Donna and Gerald Underwood. He has joined his loyal companions, Casey and Buddy, in the afterlife, joyfully continuing the adventures they always shared together.
Scott lived a life full of laughter, music, and love. His spirit continues to inspire, uplift, and bring joy to everyone who knew him. Rest in peace, Scotty. You will always be missed, always remembered, and always have lots of love.
