Ruth Anne Fletcher

May 16, 1957 — May 15, 2025

Ruth Anne Fletcher, age 67, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 2025.

Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Ruth graduated from Central High School in 1976—an unforgettable day made even more special with First Lady Betty Ford as the keynote speaker. During high school, she also attended the Kent Skills Center. Ruth worked part time after school creating floral designs, showing an early gift for creativity and care.

Ruth was rooted in her faith and was actively involved in Calvary Christian Church, where she developed lasting, meaningful relationships. Her church community was a source of strength and friendship throughout her later years in life, and she cherished the fellowship and love she found there.

Above all else, Ruth was a devoted and loving mother. She is survived by her three sons, who were the pride of her life:

Jason (Nicole) and their children: Jason Jr., Brennan, and Reagan

Matt (Angie) and their children: Victoria, Charlotte, and Savannah

Corey (Jeni) and their children: Ava and Nathan

She is also survived by her siblings: Milo Phillips, Harry Phillips, Carl Phillips, and Kathleen (Marty) Nichols; and by James (Karen) Fletcher, the father of her sons; as well as her loving significant other Al Huffman.

Ruth was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lyle and Irma Phillips and brother, Harold Phillips.

She was affectionately known as the “Kool-Aid Mom” in her neighborhood—a kind and steady presence whose door and heart were always open. She welcomed not only her own children’s friends, but anyone who needed a listening ear or a helping hand. That spirit of kindness followed her throughout life, especially in her later years, where she was beloved by the community in her apartment building.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, to be announced.

Ruth’s legacy lives on through the family she loved, the friendships she nurtured, and the quiet yet powerful impact of a life lived with warmth, faith, and compassion.
