Rosemary Ann Bauer, 88, of Lansing Michigan, went to her heavenly home on December 25, 2025, after a life full of years, and faithfully offered to serve Christ our Lord.
As a wife, sister, mother and grandmother, Rosemary gave love generously to her family and countless others. Her life was a living testimony, marked by joy and delight, giving evidence of her hope in Christ and knowledge of His sacrifice. Even as her memory and ability to communicate faded, she continued to bless those around her with a ready smile, joke or whistle. We take comfort in the hope that she hears the words “Well done, good and faithful servant."
The daughter of Lester and Carrie (Downing) Curry, Rosemary grew up on Barnes Avenue in Lansing, Michigan. As a young girl, the pastor of Mount Hope Methodist Church invited her to attend a service, beginning a lifelong relationship with the church. At the age of 12, she committed her life to Jesus Christ.
Rosemary earned a nursing degree through Bronson Hospital and Michigan State University, and started her career as a rural nurse in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Feeling God’s call to missionary service, she then went to India through the United Methodist Church. There she met her husband William (Bill) at a language school in the Himalayan Mountains. Rosemary served in India for over 30 years, ministering through orphanage healthcare, childhood nutrition, village health-worker training, school nursing, involvement in the local church, and the raising her three children.
After retiring, Rosemary and Bill returned to the United States where Rosemary remained active in her church community and with her family by singing in the choir, participating in women’s groups, engaging in social outreach, and helping care for her grandchildren. Their love of travel and missions took them on Methodist service trips from Louisiana to Nicaragua. She also enjoyed crocheting, crafts, playing the piano, camping, game nights, and time with her friends and family.
Rosemary is survived by her husband of 56 years, William; her children, Paul (and Melanie), Jennifer, and Susan (and Toby); her siblings, Sidney (and Jane), Douglas (and Carol), Maxine Plotnick, and Janet (and Peter); and her nine grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents Lester and Carrie Curry, stepmother Margaret, and brother-in-law Michael.
A celebration and memorial of her life will be held at Hope Community Church, 501 E. Mt. Hope Ave, Lansing Michigan, on January 2 at 11 a.m., with visitation at 10:30 a.m., and a time of fellowship after the service.
