Ronald Jacobson

August 2, 1950 — March 26, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Ronald Harold Jacobson of Free Soil, Michigan. Ron passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 26, 2025, at the age of 74, while receiving care at Corewell Health Hospital of Grand Rapids.

Ron was born on August 2, 1950, in Free Soil, Michigan, to Harold and June Jacobson, who have preceded him in death. Ron was also preceded by his first wife, Lorraine Jacobson. He is survived by his devoted wife and family, Carlene Bryant-Jacobson; stepdaughters Laura (Colin) Vitale, Karen (Nick) Davis, and Hayley (Tim Wolffis) Bryant; grandchildren Jacob (Rebecca) Bryant, Jade (Chris) Bryant, Miabella Vitale, Kohen Davis, Grayde Davis, Bryant Wolffis, Viana Vitale, and Brexton Wolffis; brothers Mike (Doreen) Jacobson and Roger Jacobson; nephew Kyle (Rebekah) Jacobson; nieces Sara Jacobson and Nicole Jacobson; and great-nephew and niece Joseph Jacobson and Alivia Jacobson.

Ron humbly served as a Sergeant in the National Guard of the United States, and was a graduate of Ferris State College with a Bachelor of Science in Trade-Technical Education. He retired from Harsco Rail after working there for more than 40 years. Ron spent much of his spare time in retirement on woodworking projects that he sold at craft shows all over Michigan, through his business Ron's Wood Creations. He was an avid fan of tractors, and could tell you just about anything you didn't really need to know or want to hear about tractors if they were ever brought up in conversation with him.

Above all though, he enjoyed being outdoors with his grandchildren, taking them fishing and “going faster” on the side-by-side; or snuggling with his littlest dog, Lexi on the couch. He always had a Pepsi in hand - reluctantly diet if his wife was nearby, as she was constantly battling with him to improve his health - and a story to tell you.

Ron will be greatly missed but we take solace envisioning him healthy again, and happy as he takes his final ride into the sunset of life on his trusty tractor.

Arrangements are being made to hold a memorial service at a later date as the family is processing their grief in private at this time.
