Roger Bishop

May 2, 1950 — March 4, 2022

Mike (Roger) Bishop, age 71, of Rockford, passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Friday, March 4th, 2022. Mike was born in Pulaski, VA. on May 2nd 1950 to Harry and Violet (Surratt) Bishop. Mike spent most of this life near Tampa, FL. before he moved to Michigan and married his wife, Sherri. Mike and Sherri had two children and spent 11 years in Cadillac, MI before moving to Rockford. Mike was an Executive Account Sales Manager for AT&T Yellow Pages (formally known as SBC/Ameritech) where he broke sales and marketing records time and time again. In retirement, Mike enjoyed antiquing, photography, collecting classic novels and reading by the water. Mike’s pride and joy in his life was providing for his family and being a great dad. By all who knew him, he is described as a kind, gentle soul with the sweetest southern accent.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Sherri (Hodgson) of Grand Rapids, Mich., son Taylor and wife Megan (Zimmerman) of Walled Lake, Mich., daughter Megan of Grand Rapids, Mich., children of a past marriage, Ryan of Houston, Texas, daughter Erin (DeJesus) of Lutz, FL., sister Kathy (Beem), brother Scott (Lorna), niece Kassy Roberts, and many nieces and nephews in Michigan and Florida. Mike is proceeded in death by his parents Harry and Violet, parents-in-law Bruce and Helen Hodgson. Mike fought a long, hard battle in the last years, but he never gave up. We rejoice knowing he is now with his Lord and that we will see him again.

A memorial service will be held May 1st at Hodgson Hidden Lake Park and we invite all family & friends to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Shriner’s Children Hospital, a foundation near and dear to Mike’s heart, and Faith Hospice of Grand Rapids.
