Roberta Linkfield

February 1, 1926 — February 6, 2024

Roberta Evelyn Linkfield, aka Aunt Bobbi, went to her heavenly home on February 6, 2024. She passed away in her sleep after a short illness. Bobbi’s Christian faith was an essential part of her life as a Lutheran.

She was born in Burnettsville, In, the youngest of two daughters, where her maternal grandfather owned a grocery store named Powell’s.

Bobbi was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh and her older sister, EJ. She is survived by her niece, Sandy (Jim), nephew, Duane, relatives of Hugh’s family and an abundance of the most amazing friends and neighbors.

Bobbi was a long time resident of Grand Rapids. She and Hugh built a country home in Lowell and moved there in 1975. She followed in her sister’s footsteps and became a nurse after graduating high school. Bobbi also did secretarial work and in retirement volunteered at a pre-school day care center for many years where she became known as Miss Bobbi.

Bobbi and her sister were best friends, both avid readers who decided to travel and see the world together. Every fall they would take off for 2 weeks and tour Europe, Asia, China and Australia to name a few. Bobbi was a very generous person who delighted in giving to others and was very skilled in the kitchen.

Aunt Bobbi will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She has been described as incredibly witty, such a sweet lady, God-loving, a mother figure, a best friend, an animal lover and a force to be reckoned with. She was all those things. She appreciated all the prayers, gifts, visits, cards, flowers, phone calls and her favorite chocolate she received.

Bobbi resided at Fountain View Assisted Living the last 3 years of her life. She enjoyed her “small house” and the large view she had of the garden and woods where she could feed and watch the birds. Bobbi was tenderly cared for by the staff and became part of the AL family there. Bobbi maintained a life long friendship with a classmate who was born 13 days after she was.

Aunt Bobbi’s final wishes have been fulfilled and there will be no services. Donations in her honor may be given to an animal shelter of one’s choosing. RIP Aunt Bobbi. We celebrate your life well lived.
