Robert Brock Windsor, “Bob”, died on Thursday, June 26,2025, at Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo. He was born October 17, 1937, in Owosso, Michigan; his family moved to Battle Creek in 1942. A graduate of Battle Creek Central High School in 1956, he had already started what would be a 42-year career in the retail photographic industry. Thirty-three years were spent as manager of the Battle Creek Norman Camera branch store on Michigan Avenue. During that time he created a national mail-order division for Norman’s, which was the forerunner of their internet sales today.
Bob was very active with many organizations, both social and business: Cereal City Lions Club - 17 years member, president, Lion of the Year in 1980; Cereal City Development Corp. vice-president, secretary; Battle Creek Chamber of Commerce, board member, chairman of Small Business Counseling; Community Concert Association - president; The Irving S. Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, trustee for 8 years, Regional Council; Music Center of Southwest Michigan, founding board member; Rotary Club of Battle Creek, Paul Harris Fellow, board member.
Bob was an active member of First Congregational Church in Battle Creek, serving on the Executive Committee, numerous musical committees, and activities including the Chancel Choir and the Sunday Afternoon Live series.
In 1966 he married Nancy, (Nan) who survives. The past ten years he and Nan have lived in Kalamazoo, where they joined the First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo.
His service, a Remembrance with Music, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, at the First Congregational Church, 345 W. Michigan Ave, Kalamazoo. Visitation and luncheon will follow the service at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to Centrica Rose Arbor Place, or the Music Fund of First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo.
