Robert “Suchis” William Suchy, 82, of Comstock Park went home to Jesus on May 16, 2021 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital. He was born on March 29, 1939 in Oak Park, Illinois. Robert grew up in the Chicago area and spent childhood summers with his family at “the farm” in Pentwater. Robert graduated from Calumet College of St. Joseph, Indiana, in 1965 and started his career working for Johnson and Johnson. He then moved to Michigan to work as a manager at Amway. He worked in management at Corduroy Rubber in Grand Rapids before finishing his career at Grand Rapids Community College as an adjunct professor in Quality Management and retired in 2010. In 1989 he married Harlene Dickerson in Mears, Michigan. They resided in Comstock Park and traveled West in the summers as “winter Texans”. Robert was an avid sportsman and fisherman and enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Upper Silver Lake. He volunteered as a youth Little League softball coach, taught youth religious education and was an active member of AA. Together with his wife, he served as a foster parent for 70 children over the years. He was a member of the American Society of Quality (ASQ) and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Harlene “Mark” Suchy. His surviving children include Julie Suchy Blodgett (Greg) of Rockford, Jacqueline Suchy (Nicole Manduca) of Denver CO, Gina Suchy Otterbein (John) of Coopersville, Robert Lytle (Linda) of Coopersville, Tim Lytle (Becky) of Saranac, Mike Lytle (Melinda) of Lake Odessa and Laurie Lytle Clapper of Comstock Park. Robert is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and his friend and AA sponsor Jeff Dukes. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Pauline Suchy of Chicago, Illinois. There will be a time of public visitation with the family at 10am on Friday, May 21 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1200 Alpine Church Rd NW, Comstock Park. The Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated for Robert at 11am following visitation. Father Chris Rouech will be officiating.
