Everyone wants to add value to the world and Robert Lyndon Kennedy attempted to do just that. Daily he sought to enhance the lives of others. Often, he could be found in the lobby of the main library greeting patrons or chatting up staff at his small neighborhood branch. One of the places he felt most at home was at the Sheldon House. He made many friends there over the decades and enjoyed helping prepare lunch for the members.
Bob had a warm place in his heart for the people at Berean Baptist Church, Providence Reformed Church, Servants Community Church and the Supper House at St. Alphonsus. He valued the care of his house mom, Cindy, his best friend Erin. He diligently prayed for his family and enjoyed their company and phone calls.
Bob struggled with serious mental illness his entire adult life and was never able to achieve some of his lifelong goals, yet his life was notable for his unfailing faith in Jesus and desire to live for Him despite significant challenges. He focused on what matters most: loving God and others. He will be fondly remembered for his well lived life. He longed for his heavenly home and finally got his wish after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Robert was born in Livonia, MI on January 22, 1963 and spent the last three and a half decades in Grand Rapids, MI.
He is survived by his mother, Dottie Kennedy and five siblings, Karen (Don) Thoms, Denise (Tony) Whithorn, Bill (Anita) Kennedy, Patti (Richard) Tieman, John Kennedy and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, William Kennedy. His family is comforted knowing Bob is free of illness with a restored body and mind with his well-loved Savior.
