Robert Wayne Collins

June 20, 1947 — May 9, 2026

Robert Wayne Collins, affectionately known as Bob, passed away on May 9, 2026, in his beloved hometown of Muskegon, Michigan. Born on June 20, 1947, in Muskegon, Bob’s life was marked by devotion to family, service to his country, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew him.

Bob was the cherished son of William Collins Sr. and Hazel (Smith) Waters, both of whom preceded him in death. Sharing bonds of family and memory, he was also preceded by his brother William Collins Jr. and his sister Marva Jean Porter. Those who remain to honor Bob’s memory include his sisters Sally Eller, Patricia McGarity, Susan Morris (and her husband Talanis Morris), Lorraine Salazar, and his brother Tom Waters (and his wife Rhonda Waters).

A proud Marine Corps veteran, Bob served with distinction during the Vietnam War. His time in the Marines was a testament to his courage and dedication, values he carried throughout his life.

In his personal life, Bob found deep fulfillment as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He and Connie shared a remarkable partnership, married for 58 years. Together they raised two sons, Thomas Collins, who is married to Donna Collins, and Robert Collins, married to Rose Collins. His family expanded with five grandchildren: Thomas Collins, Shayne Collins, Tomas Collins, Felisha Collins, and Toni Bates, who is married to Jacob Bates. His legacy also includes many beloved great-grandchildren, a living testament to the enduring love and family ties he nurtured.

Bob’s passions extended beyond family. He enjoyed hunting, which connected him to the natural world, and he cherished the quiet moments spent at the cabin on weekends. His companionship with his pets brought him joy and comfort. Above all, Bob treasured the time he spent with his family, a constant source of happiness and pride.
