Richard McDowell

Richard “Rick” Eugene McDowell Sr., age 74, went to his eternal Home Thursday, March 19, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family, following a six year battle with cancer. 

Rick was born in Flint, Michigan, and grew up in Clio. He married Sheryl Christie on June 20, 1974. They resided in Cadillac and raised their family there. He worked at Rexair for 30 years. Rick enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting, and trapping. He had many hobbies including beekeeping, taking care of his flowers, video games, HO trains, and raising chickens. He also enjoyed spending time playing basketball, baseball, board games, Euchre, and riding on his golf cart with his grandchildren. 

He loved being with his family and is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sheryl; his sons Scott (Kathy), Beau (Beka), and Ricky (Karla) McDowell; his grandchildren Michael, Jonathan, Ellie, Mason, Megan, Antwan, Addie, and Bentley (“Dewey”); a brother; a sister; and many in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife’s parents; a brother; and a brother-in-law. 

Rick’s Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Hospice of Michigan. Congratulations, Rick, you are the winnin’ one. Save a spot for the rest of us.
