Ricardo Garza

Ricardo "Richie" Garza, a cherished soul with an undeniable spirit, passed away on July 14, 2025, in Nunica, Michigan, surrounded by his loved ones after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on August 24, 1955, in McAllen, Texas, Richie touched the lives of all who had the privilege to know him.

Richie devoted his life to caring for others as an in-home caregiver, embracing the role with a heart full of compassion and love. Throughout his years of self-employment, he consistently put the needs of those around him above his own, offering rides, food, and financial help to neighbors in need. He was the embodiment of kindness, often described as the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to a stranger. His love for others was boundless, and his willingness to listen to secrets without ever sharing them earned him the trust of many.

Richie's personality was a vibrant tapestry woven with humor and quirkiness. He had a talent for eliciting laughter, often bringing together family and friends to share a good laugh and, of course, a cold beer. A cigarette was never far from his hand, and he could often be seen with a phone capturing moments—taking pictures and videos that would become cherished memories. The laughter and deep belly laughs he inspired will echo in the hearts of his loved ones for years to come.

Music was a significant part of Richie's life. He adored playing his guitar, with "For What It’s Worth" by Buffalo Springfield often filling the air, creating a soundtrack for unforgettable gatherings and evenings spent in the warmth of camaraderie.

Richie's proudest accomplishments went beyond his professional life; they lay in the care he extended toward others. He truly believed in lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it, which served as a testament to his loving and compassionate nature.

Ricardo is survived by his beloved wife, Amy Garza; his daughters, Jasmine Garza and Amber Goble; his son, Samuel Garcia; and his sister, Beatrice Garza, and brother, Rueben Garza. He leaves behind an extended family of friends and relatives who will forever hold his memory close.

He is now reunited with his deceased family members: his mother, Anita Rodríguez; his father, Joe Garza; and brothers Agapito Garza and Aurelia Garza, who welcomed him with open arms.

Richie's absence is felt deeply by all who knew him, and he will be missed dearly. A fond man, with his capricious humor and generous heart, has left a legacy of love that will resonate for generations. Rest in peace and bliss, dear Richie. Your laughter and light will always remain in our hearts.
