Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Renee Rutila, who passed away on July 19, 2026, at the age of 59.

Renee was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished daughter, sister, and friend. Above all, she valued family and found her greatest joy in the time she spent with those she loved. She was a proud football mom who loved cheering from the sidelines, supporting her children, and being part of the moments that mattered most. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love created lasting memories that will forever be treasured.

Renee was a dedicated and hardworking professional who took great pride in her career. For the past seven years, she worked at Rocket Mortgage, where her most recent role was as a Senior Banker, a position she truly enjoyed. She was a devoted employee who brought commitment, compassion, and a strong work ethic to everything she did. Renee was well-liked and respected by her coworkers, who appreciated not only her dedication but also her unique sense of humor and the quirky jokes that brought laughter to the workplace.

Renee found joy in gardening, especially tending to Lucy, her beloved lemon tree. She also enjoyed health and fitness, baking, and listening to great music, with favorites including Taylor Swift, Jimmy Buffett, and Steely Dan. She appreciated life's simple pleasures and treasured every opportunity to spend time, create memories, and share experiences with the people she loved.

Renee had a wonderfully quirky personality and a unique sense of humor. Her quick wit, playful spirit, and perfectly timed jokes often left those around her laughing—even if only a select few caught the punchline. Those who knew her best understood that her humor was one of the many ways she expressed her love, and it is a gift they will always cherish.

Renee was preceded in death by her son, Ian-Jules Tyler Rutila.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Jeffrey Rutila; her children, Aaron Rutila and Michael Rutila; her future daughter-in-law, Ashley Anderson; her mother, Diane Hemingway; her siblings, Lisa Johnson and Kevin Clark; her niece and nephews, Blaine Johnson, Bridgette Rutila, Kaleb Clark, Layne Clark, and Bronx Feather; and her dear friends, Stephanie Ahmad, Mary Angst, and Jenn West, who will deeply miss her.

The family is grateful for the love, support, and kindness shown during this difficult time. Renee’s legacy of love, laughter, compassion, dedication, and devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice House of Shiawassee County
