Regina Prys

April 13, 1964 — September 26, 2024

Regina "Gina" Prys, affectionately known as Ma to those she held close, passed away on September 26, 2024, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the age of 60. Born on April 13, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Gina's zest for life and unwavering spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Gina's life was a testament to the power of love and selflessness. Her radiant smile and friendly demeanor made her a beloved figure in her community. She was the kind of person who could light up a room with her presence and was often seen as everyone's cheerleader, always there to offer support and encouragement. Her interests were a reflection of her vibrant personality; she found joy in dancing, riding motorcycles, and traveling. Each new adventure was a chance for Gina to embrace life's beauty and share her infectious enthusiasm with others.

Family was the cornerstone of Gina's world. She is survived by her devoted son Scott Highway and his wife, Kina, along with her cherished grandchildren Aubreanna, Charles, and Brynlee Highway, who brought immense joy and pride into her life.

Gina's siblings, Rhonda (Larry) DeEulis, Randall (Tami) Vanderpool, Renee (Alan) Machiela, and Rodney (Wendy) Vanderpool, will remember her as a loving sister who was always there with a listening ear and a helping hand. Her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews will carry forward the countless memories of her kindness and the lessons of compassion she instilled in them.

Gina's heart had the rare ability to stretch beyond the confines of her own family, embracing many who were not bound to her by blood but whom she loved as her own. She created an extended family built on the foundations of love and mutual respect, a community that will deeply feel her absence.

As we remember Gina, we are reminded of the words of Mother Teresa, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." Gina embodied this sentiment, living a life rich in small acts of love that together created a legacy of warmth and generosity that will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.

Gina's journey through life was a beautiful dance of giving, caring, and loving without expectation. Her selfless nature was a beacon of hope and a source of comfort to many. To be loved by Gina was to know true friendship, unconditional support, and the kind of loyalty that withstands the test of time.

As we bid farewell to Regina "Gina" Prys, we hold tight to the memories, the laughter, and the love she shared so freely. Her spirit, a blend of strength and tenderness, will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. Though she has taken her final bow, the echoes of her dance through life will resonate for generations to come.

Gina's story does not end with her passing, for she has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy will live on in the smiles of her grandchildren, the bonds of her siblings, and the countless lives she has enriched. In the quiet moments, we will find her in the warmth of the sun, the rhythm of a song, and the freedom of the open road.

May the memory of Regina "Gina" Prys be a source of comfort and a reminder to embrace life with the same passion and love that she did. Her journey was one of joy, her life a melody of love and kindness. Rest in peace, dear Gina, your dance will forever be remembered.
