Rebecca Jean DeMoor, born on December 11, 1973, in Muskegon, Michigan, peacefully passed away on May 3, 2026, in her hometown, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and cherished memories.
Becky was a radiant spirit who found joy and solace in the serene beauty of the Smokey Mountains of Vonore, Tennessee, a place she truly loved to call home. Her heart belonged not only to these majestic landscapes but also deeply to her family, especially the precious moments spent with her daughters and grandchildren, which filled her life with immeasurable happiness.
A proud graduate of Lenawee Christian School in Adrian and a student of Huntington College in Indiana, Rebecca carried her education through life with grace and determination. Yet, it was her kindness and empathy that marked her essence. A unique and empathetic soul, Becky had a heart of compassion for those who were hurting and an unwavering love for her beloved rescue dogs, Lulu and Copper, who shared in her journey and comforted her with their loyal presence.
Rebecca’s life was also adorned with a distinctive passion — memorial tattoos, notably one bearing her favorite paraphrased verse from Hebrews 13:6: “Whatever… God always has my back.” This personal emblem symbolized the enduring faith and courage that carried her through life’s challenges.
Her family and friends remember her as a dear daughter to Dennis Chester and Lois Vernier, a devoted wife to Adam DeMoor, and a loving mother to Abby Chester and Maggie King. Her tender heart and nurturing spirit live on through her grandchildren, Carson and Kayce King, who were a source of endless joy to her. Though the loss of her beloved son, Alex Lawrence, weighs heavily on the family, Rebecca’s memory remains a beacon of love and strength for all who knew her.
In her final days, Rebecca was gently cared for with profound love and respect by her kindred spirit and dear cousin, Danna Wiersma, along with her Aunt Anne Cobb. Their tender care, especially during her hospice time, brought Becky comfort and peace, reflecting the deep bonds of family and friendship that surrounded her.
Rebecca Jean DeMoor’s life was a beautiful testament to kindness, resilience, and unwavering love. She leaves a lasting imprint on the hearts of her family and all whose lives she touched. Her spirit will forever be cherished, and her memory celebrated with gratitude and affection.
