Philip Joseph Barnes

Philip Joseph Barnes, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at the age of 68. Phil was born on January 15, 1953, in Kalamazoo, MI, son of William G. and Emma Cecilia (Whitcomb) Barnes who preceded him in death. Phil was also preceded in death by brothers, William L. Barnes, Thomas J. Barnes, sister-in-law, Sally Barnes. He is survived by his son Robin, brother, Kent, sisters Lucinda Barnes, Cecilia Atchison, Kathleen Barnes and Therese (Michael) Boltz, sisters-in-law, Karen Barnes, Linda Thole and Susan Barnes; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Phil graduated from Hackett Catholic Prep H.S. and attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Phil loved nature. He enjoyed being outdoors and taking long walks. Services will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Kalamazoo at 1:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 12:15. Father Kenneth W. Schmidt, officiating. Donations may be made to Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries or Ministry with Community.
