Peter Joseph Eckert, beloved son, father, grandfather, and cherished member of the Holton community, passed away on April 16th, 2026, at the age of 54. Born on August 29th, 1971, in Holton, Michigan, Peter touched the lives of many with his kindness, warmth, and unwavering care.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Peter found joy in fishing, hunting, and the simple pleasures of nature’s embrace. He treasured spending time with his loved ones, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. Deeply rooted in his faith, Peter embraced a meaningful spiritual journey, culminating in his baptism just weeks before his passing.

Peter was preceded in death by his father Henry Eckert, his mother, Jane, and his two brothers, Brian and Scott. He leaves behind his loving stepfather, Skip; his devoted children, Sonya Lockhart, Candice Marr, Aiyana Sharlow, Abbie Eckert and Randy Essebaggers; and his treasured grandchildren—Joshua, Antonio, Carma, Amiya, Jimmy, Axyl, Blayke, Ophyllia, Juniper, Aiyla, and Ethan. He also is survived by his siblings Dennis and Misty.

Those who knew Peter will remember his determination and the love he held for all. His life was a testament to the positive changes he aspired to make for himself and those around him.

A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at Holton United Methodist Church on May 9th, 2026, at 2 p.m., where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and the beautiful legacy he leaves behind.
