Pearl Jean Butcher

Pearl "Jean" (Clabaugh) Butcher, 84, of Otsego, Michigan, passed on January 30, 2026, at home with her family.

Jean was born on September 16, 1941, to Donald Clabaugh and Bernice (Manning) Roberts. Working in the hospitality industry for many years, Jean had a love of people. She was generous with her smiles and laughter, and loved connecting with people in her community. Her kindness, sense of humor, and fierce loyalty left a lasting imprint on those who loved her. Jean was a faithful Christian, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a dedicated friend. She enjoyed country music, playing cards with her friends, and spending quality time with her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren. In her final years, she found particular joy in her great-grandchildren and treasured her time with them. Jean shared an incredibly close bond with her daughter, Stacy. They were inseparable. She spent several of her final years in her care, completing a life-long circle of love. Jean's legacy of love will live on in her family, who meant everything to her. Just as she was everything to them.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Bernice; her sisters, Donna (Jim) Graves and Pat (Larry) Conner; her daughter-in-law, Jan (Michael) Butcher; and her grandson, Tyler Lawless. She is survived by her children, Stacy Lawless and Michael (Debbie) Butcher; her step-daughter, Lisa Bondy; her grandchildren, Amanda (Andrew) Wright, Jeffrey (Fumiko) Lawless, and Wendy (Duane) Timmer; 6 great-grandchildren; and her life-long friends, Marcia (Doest) Bontrager, Frieda Reeves Luzadder, and Beth (Murphy) Heygi; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, neices and nephews.

A celebration of life will take place at the Portage VFW (8845 S Sprinkle Rd, Portage, MI 49002) on March 1, 2026, at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Jean's name to Christian Neighbors or PACE Senior Care Partners.
