Obituary

Paula Jo (Reeves) Byrne 60 of Belding passed away Friday June 26, 2026, at home under the care of her family and Hospice after a long and courageous fight with cancer. 

Paula was born on March 10, 1966, in Greenville, the daughter of Paul and Joan (Hessler) Reeves. She graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1984 and later attended Baker College and then graduated from Phoenix University with an Associates of Arts Degree. In earlier years she had worked in Human Resources for Clarion in Greenville and later served Otisco Township, first as deputy supervisor, then deputy treasurer and later was elected twice as treasurer. She enjoyed being treasurer and served the township with integrity and professionalism. Paula knew budgets, numbers and how to deliver the best service to township residents. She enjoyed kayaking on the Flat River and was happy being at home in her favorite chair. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and co-workers. 

Paula is loved and survived by her children, Derek ( Rebekah Scofield) Byrne of Palo, Katelyn (Rick Knopik) Mogdis of Belding, Bryan (Kaitlyn Balko) Byrne of Smyrna, her grandchildren, Brooklynn, Lynzee, Thomas, Addison, Kelsey, Briella, Adora, her mother Joan Reeves of Belding, her sisters, Kimberly (Michael) Huler of Farmington Hills, Shawn Reeves of Saugatuck, Angela Bush of Belding, and her faithful and loving black lab, Zeus. 

She was preceded in death by her father Paul, a sister Lisa in infancy, her grandparents, Howard & Inez Reeves and Paul & Mildred Hessler. 

A time to celebrate her life with family and friends will take place on Sunday, July 12, 2026,from 2-4 PM at The Barn at Adams Acres, 10655 Belding Road, Belding. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the B Foundation. Private interment will be at Smyrna Cemetery.
