Norma Meacham

January 5, 1937 — August 4, 2024

Meacham, Norma R. of Saginaw, Michigan, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at MediLodge at the Shore in Grand Haven, Michigan. She was 87 years old. Norma Rose Bigger was born January 5, 1937, in Flint, Michigan, to Ulysses G. Bigger and Ruth (Sackrider) Bigger. She moved to Saginaw as a young child and lived there until 2020 after suffering a stroke. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1955. She worked at Woolworth's and then at Sunshine Biscuit Company, where she met and married Jack R. Meacham on August 10, 1957, when they eloped to Angola, Indiana. They were married for 47 years; he preceded her in death on November 13, 2004. Norma was a member of Countryside Trinity Church, where she loved being involved. She was a “people person” and loved taking care of others. Her biggest passion was spending time with family. She loved baking, especially her “no-bake” cookies. She loved to crochet, read, play bingo, and most of all, she loved music. She even danced in her wheelchair to her favorite songs.


Surviving her are her daughter, Jackie Thompson (Loyd), and her son, Terry Meacham (Marion), a stepdaughter, Judy Jackson, and a stepson, Larry Meacham (Karen). She is also survived by two special nieces whom she considered daughters, Vickie and Sandy Meacham, and grandchildren Robie (Cory) Babcock, Sara Brooks (Ben), Jack Babcock, McKinley Molnar (Tommy), Steven Meacham, Scott Jackson (Nijole), Tim Jackson (Monica), and Brian Jackson (Lisa), Tracie Webb, Tammy Olivarez (Mark), Jeff Meacham (Penny), and Jennifer Meacham as well as many extended family members and friends. Norma was preceded in death by a son (Baby Boy Meacham), a daughter, Tonya Babcock, and her brothers Warren and Wallace Bigger, Frank Waterstradt, and her sisters Barbara Tubb, Betty Doran, Ruth Firman, Beatrice Waterstradt, and Martha Becmer.


Funeral: A service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Countryside Trinity Church, 4690 Weiss Street. Pastor Michael Hahn will officiate. Cremation has taken place per Norma’s wishes. Visitation: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service, and dinner at the fellowship hall following the service. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Countryside Trinity Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN, in honor of her sweet “Brinley the Brave.”
