Nancy L. Sheasley, age 85, passed away on February 19, 2021 w/ her family by her side at her Story Point residence in Rockford, MI due to complications associated with Alzheimer’s and a bad fall. Nancy was born October 8th 1935 to Russell and Helen Frederickson of Alma, MI. She grew up in the Alma community, attended Alma High School and graduated with honors in 1953. She began her college career at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and ultimately transferred to Western Michigan University in 1955 where she met her husband of 38 years, Don Sheasley. Don & Nancy were married in December of 1956 and enjoyed many wonderful years together. In 1963 Nancy set aside her teaching career to become a full-time mom and focused on rising their only child, David. For many years the family enjoyed traveling the USA to visit many of America’s National parks along with weekend camping trips to Northern Michigan to take-in the scenery and check on the trout streams Don & David liked to frequent. Don passed away due to complications associated with cancer in January of 1994. After Don’s passing Nancy never remarried. She focused her attention on volunteering at her local church (First Presbyterian of Alma) and spoiling her two Grandsons, Logan and Gavin Sheasley. Nancy or “Mema” as she was known to her grandsons faithfully attended football games, track meets and endured frigid temperatures to participate in family ski vacations. Nancy lived vicariously through the adventures of her son and grandsons. She was always very interested and involved in all their endeavors and continually encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Nancy was a very generous, loving, nurturing and proud mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She will be dearly missed. Nancy is survived by her son David (Robbin) Sheasley of Rockford, MI, her three brothers Phil (Sylvia) Frederickson of Ada, MI, Eric (Karen) Frederickson of Chelsea, MI, Kris (Barb) Frederickson of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and her grandsons Logan Sheasley of Kalamazoo, MI and Gavin Sheasley of Nashville TN Due to the situation with the COVID pandemic no formal memorial service will be scheduled. The family may elect to organize a celebration of life ceremony at some-time in the future.
