Nancy Kay Devos

October 29, 1936 — January 13, 2025

Nancy Kay DeVos (Sikkema), age 88, of Grand Rapids, MI passed away on January 13, 2025, with her loving son holding her hand.

Nancy was born on October 29, 1936, to Dick and Lillian Sikkema. She graduated from Central High School early with honors and started working at the school upon graduation.

At the young age of 17 Nancy married Floyd DeVos, and had two children, Darcy Jo and Ross Richard. Nancy and Floyd opened their own business doing appliance repair. Nancy answered the business phone and did all the appointments and bookwork for the business. It became very successful and was the go-to for appliance repair in Grand Rapids. They were married for 59 happy years!

Nancy and Floyd were inseparable, always going out together to the Lexicon club and Sixth Street Hall. Nancy also loved boating and laying in the sun around her pool. Holiday pool parties were open to everybody! She did love parties and wasn’t against consuming a beer or two!

Retirement was spent in the Florida Keys! Driving their motor home there and staying in it for 6 months at a time. Enjoying the beautiful weather, boating, fishing, sunbathing, meeting new friends, and of course drinking a few beers! Family visits were always a highlight, and their door was always open.

After her husband’s passing Nancy and her best friend Gayle (and family) were always going out together. Whether it be a casino trip, she always said her max was $20 lol, dinner, lunch, happy hours, Sixth Street Hall, Casino Club etc. Nancy was always busy, and she loved driving her red convertible getting thumbs up from passerby’s.

Nancy loved her family and was fortunate to be able to attend grandchildren’s weddings and be here for the birth of 5 great grandchildren.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Floyd DeVos, daughter Darcy DeVos, brother Bernie Sikkema. She is survived by her son Ross DeVos and wife Beth DeVos, grandchildren, Kadie Mastbergen , Gregg Roest, Joshua DeVos, Cassidy Hollenbeck, Lukas DeVos, Emersyn Devos, as well as great grandchildren Warren, Nathaniel, Samuel, Haven and Raya Rose.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Juvenile diabetes foundation. There will be a celebration of life sometime in the spring or summer
