Nancy Hendrickson

Nancy Lucille Hendrickson, age 79, passed away on September 18, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved her deeply.

Nancy was born on January 4, 1947, in Escanaba, Michigan, to Leonard and Helen Winling. She spent much of her working life as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell, staying with the company through all of its changes until it eventually became AT&T. She was a hardworking woman who took pride in the life she built and the people she cared for. Nancy enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. 

After moving to Grand Rapids, some of her happiest times were spent making trips back to Escanaba to visit the family and friends she loved. Those visits gave her a chance to reconnect, share stories, laugh, and make more memories. But Nancy’s greatest joy was always her family. She loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she cherished the time she was able to spend with them. Family was at the heart of her life, and she took great pride in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow. 

Nancy was warm, funny, stubborn, and incredibly loving. She had a personality that made her unforgettable, and those who knew her well will probably smile when they think of just how stubborn she could be. But that same strong spirit was part of what made her so special. She loved fiercely, cared deeply, and was always happiest when surrounded by the people she loved. 

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Helen Winling; her brother, Russel Winling; and her grandson, Jory Kurkjian. She leaves behind her children, Richard (Brenda) Hendrickson, Robert (Portasue) Hendrickson, and Ryan (Michelle) Hendrickson; grandchildren, Zachery Hendrickson, Jessica (Jordan) Kurkjian-Dassinger, Jacob Hendrickson, Makenna Hendrickson, Seth Hendrickson, Andrew (Victoria) Dean, and Jaclyn Andary; and great-grandchildren, Josiah, Genesis, Alexia, Skylar, Jory Jr., James, and Autumn. 

She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carol Winling, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. 

Nancy’s family will forever remember her laughter, her stories, her strong spirit, and most of all, the love she gave so freely. Her absence will leave a space that cannot be filled, but the memories she created with the people she loved will remain a part of them forever. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at HomeFront Church, 6265 8th Ave SE, Grandville, MI 49418.
