Michael Benjamin Schenk

Michael (Mike) Benjamin Schenk, aged 64, died peacefully in his home with his wife by his side (and best friend on the phone) on Friday July 24, 2026 after a year long battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Schenk and sister Carol Morgan.

Mike was born on April 20, 1962 in Detroit, MI to Marilee Hanson and James Schenk. He grew up in Detroit and later moved to Livonia, MI and attended Bentley High School.

Mike was a talented tradesman who could fix anything. Despite being a man of few words, he had a generous soul and would give you his last dollar or the shirt off his back; he cared deeply for his children. He was the kind of man who quietly shouldered the weight, so that those he loved could walk a little lighter. His favorite place was Mullet Lake in northern Michigan where he often took his children when they were young. Later in his life, he loved travelling the country with Sally and their dog Joey in their RV.

He is survived by his wife Sally, son Michael Jr (Nicole), daughter Sarah, stepsons Wade and Gibson, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mike will be missed dearly.
