Michael Force

Michael William Force Sr, age 70, passed away Sunday, September 26th 2021 surrounded by family after complications from vascular disease. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Bridgette Force, their sons, Mick (Lindsey) and Joe (Alicia), and grandchildren Alaina, Macy, Jackson, and Evan Force, brothers Butch (Earl Jr.) and Rich Force, step-sisters Ilene and Gayle, and many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Earl Force Sr., sisters Cheryl and Dianne, and step-sister, Jo Ann. Mike was a talented musician, playing Bass guitar in local bands from his youth well into his later years of life. He was also a lifelong entrepreneur. He ran several successful businesses in and around Rockford, MI during the ’80s and ’90s including Porter’s Quarters, Mary Anne’s Candy, and Sugarplums. He was part of the dreamers who helped to revitalize downtown Rockford into the destination shopping district we know today. Mike was also a skilled craftsman and woodworker. He beautifully restored homes in Cherry Hill and Heritage Hill near downtown Grand Rapids and ran his woodworking shop out of his basement there. More than anything, Mike loved his family. From his wife and best friend, Bridgette, to his children and grandchildren, he always put family first. He enjoyed pulling his grandchildren in a wagon around his neighborhood, stopping at the local bakery, or taking them for lunch and pinball at a local restaurant. Even as his condition worsened, Mike retained his "special" brand of humor and delivered some humorous quips right up until the very end. Mike’s family invites friends and loved ones to an open-house visitation 5-8pm Thursday, September 30th at The Corner Bar, 31 North Main Street Rockford, MI 49341 (upstairs patio room).
