Melvin Allan Kantor of Rockford, Michigan, passed away on September 2, 2020, after a long struggle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Luanne; his brother, Norman (Donna Steele) Kantor, of Evanston, IL; his stepson, Douglas (Rhonda Allen) Hamlin of Walkerville, MI; his stepdaughter, Laura (John) McAllaster, of Edmore, MI; step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, sisters- and brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. Mel was born on February 19, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, and was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Ann (Goodman) Kantor. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois, School of Architecture, and worked as an architect in the Chicago area for many years. He served as a Professor of Architectural Technology and Facilities Management at Ferris State University for 32 years. He was granted the AIA Grand Valley 2008 Service Award for his many years of dedicated service to the architectural practice. Deep gratitude is extended to the amazing staff at Spectrum Health Hospice. In accordance with Mel's wishes in the age of Covid-19, there will be no funeral service.
