Maurice Dean Webb went home to our Lord on May 24, 2022 at 4:55PM. Born on January 4. 1935 in Osseo Michigan, Maurice was the only child to Brancy (Charles) and Rena Webb. With the death of his father when Maurice was only 22 months old, he was raised in Hillsdale Michigan by his mother and step-father (uncle) Lester Webb. Graduating from Hillsdale Highschool in 1953, Maurice spent a short time working as a die maker at Allied Products in Hillsdale (associated with Ford Motors) before being drafted into the Army in 1957. He served until 1959 with the 3rd Army Corp of Engineers in demolitions. Upon leaving the Army he meet his bride Rebecca Dianne Hauer and was married on 1/1/1960. Maurice is survived by his wife Rebecca, sons Trenton and Brenton plus daughter n laws Ronda (Steele) Webb and Julie (Barrett) Webb. Maurice also has surviving grandchildren Zachary Thomas Webb and Chelsea Rebecca (Webb) Emmorey with husband Christopher. Maurice and his family moved to Galesburg Michigan in early 1966 where they built a home and Maurice began working for Fisher Body-General Motors in Comstock Michigan as a Journeyman Die Maker.
Maurice had many accomplishments in life. Maurice drove a dairy delivery truck at age 14 (where he delivered to the house of his future bride), was recognized as a sharpshooter by the commanding general of the 3rd army during his service, was rewarded in 1974 with a $10,000 bonus from General Motors for a product/material savings plan (still used by General Motors today) and was also recognized for his outstanding craftsmanship by GM managers.
Maurice was awarded a Masters Degree in Industrial Education from Western Michigan University in 1981 and taught at Kalamazoo Valley Community College for 2 years in late 1980’s. In June of 1999, Maurice retired from General Motors and moved with his wife to Mission Texas until May 17,2022 when her returned to Michigan with his family until his passing.
Maurice’s family will not be doing a memorial at this time but encourages friends and family to send on memories or condolences through the Grand Rapids Cremation Services website.
