Matthew Garcia

Matthew James Garcia, beloved son, brother, father, and friend, passed away on June 10, 2024, at the age of 42. He was born on November 13, 1981, in Grand Rapids, MI, and resided there for his entire life.

Matthew had a love for life and was known for his fearlessness and loyalty. He cherished his children, Izabella, Neveah, Sophia, Aria, Elijah, and Lucia, above all else, and found great joy in creating lasting memories with them. Matthew's love for his family and friends knew no bounds, and he was everyone's favorite son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, grandchild, and ally.

In his free time, Matthew enjoyed playing poker, rewatching his favorite movies, and indulging in delicious meals, particularly Aunt Shell's weekly menu, with lasagna and chicken divine topping his list. Matthew was an avid fan of football, Go Lions!

Known for his strong will, hard work ethic, and honesty, Matthew believed in finishing what he started and held true to his word. He fought for what he believed was right and was admired for his intelligence and quick wit.

Matthew's faith played a significant role in his life, and he found solace in his relationship with the Lord. He embraced his spiritual journey and looked forward to the promise of a better tomorrow.

Matthew will be dearly missed and is survived by his parents, Antonia Garcia, Jesus (Elizabeth) Talamantez, his siblings William Garcia, Jay (Sarah) McCormack, Dillon & Jessica McCormack, Juanita (Kyle) Talamantez-McCambridge, his children, Izabella, Neveah, Sophia, Aria, Elijah, Lucia, and the mother of his children and lifetime friend Angela Smith, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Matthew is preceded in death by his Grandma Nancy Garcia and his daughter Lyla Jade Garcia.

In the hearts of those who knew him, Matthew's legacy will live on. His memory will be treasured, Rest in peace, Matthew James Garcia.

A funeral service will be held on June 25, 2024 at 11am at City Impact Cedar Springs Church 288 N Main St Cedar Springs, MI 49319.
