Mary Winright, 74, went to be with the Lord December 16, 2021, with her family by her side, in Grand Rapids Michigan. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to John and Alta (LaMoore) Simons on March 10, 1947. Their family lived in Jenison, Michigan the majority of Mary's youth. She married Terry Winright March 31, 1967. They were married nearly 55 years. Mary worked as a secretary for the Grand Rapids School Board and OMM Engineering. Terry worked for UPS. Mary was a Girl Scout leader, enjoyed women's bible studies, was part of the West Michigan Daylily Society, liked reading and crafting. Native to the West Michigan area, Mary lived in Wyoming, Jenison, Grand Rapids, Belmont and for the last 31 years in Rockford, Michigan. She was fast to volunteer her time and talents to the many activities her daughters, Shelley and Becky, became involved in. Mary is survived by her husband, Terry Winright of Rockford; daughters and their spouses, Scott and Shelley Peters of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Barry and Becky Harper of Lowell, Michigan; sister and husband, Tom and Rita Higgins of Traverse City, Michigan; brother and wife, Rick and Sandy Simons of Kansas City, Kansas; sister-in-law, Ruth Winright; brother-in-law and wife Ron and Kerri Winright of Grand Rapids, Michigan; sister-in-law and husband Bob and Robin Baker of Grant, Michigan; grandchildren Heather Vandermeer, Alan Peters, Cameron Harper, Jenna Postman, and Sarah Harper; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces of nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, John Edwin Simons; her mother, Alta Mae (LaMoore) Simons; her father-in-law, Bud Oren Winright; her mother-in-law, Margaret Myrtle (Lambert) Winright; her grandson, David Alexander Peters; her sIster-in-law, Peg Joyce (Winright) Wyman; and her brother-in-law, Robert ("Bob") Oren Winright. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations to be made to: Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan 1323 Cedar St NE Grand Rapids, MI 49503 Graveside services will be immediate family only and private. The family thanks you for understanding this request, and we deeply appreciate your love, prayers and concern at the loss of a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who will be deeply missed.
