Mary Lou Benjamin, born July 2, 1944, in Holland, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly, on July 19, 2026. Her long life was marked by caring service, creative gifts, and enduring faith.

Mary Lou was a compassionate and dedicated registered nurse. Her career began at RN in Dayton, Georgia, where her gentle expertise touched countless patients and colleagues. She continued her vocation as a home care RN in Lodi, California, and retired from Spectrum Butterworth. Her devotion to the healing profession was evident in every community she joined, always offering her skill and comfort to those in need.

A prolific needle worker, Mary Lou found joy and purpose in knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitch. Her talents extended far beyond her own enjoyment—she lovingly crafted beautiful creations that brought warmth and comfort to many. She was deeply involved with Project Linus, making “blankies” for children, and also contributed knitted hats for Lifeline Ministries in Holland, Michigan. Her artistry and generosity wrapped countless children and individuals in tangible expressions of care and love.

Mary Lou’s heart for service extended into her faith. She dedicated herself to teaching children’s Bible classes in Tennessee and Bauer, Michigan. Her love for sharing stories and values left a lasting impression—many of the children she taught at church remember the personalized blankets she made for each of them. In these acts, Mary Lou seamlessly combined her creative gifts with her commitment to nurture and inspire.

She is survived by her sister Ruth Maquilon, brothers Ken Benjamin and Gordon R. (Dick) Benjamin, and her sister-in-law Sandy Benjamin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Helen Benjamin, and her younger brother, Daniel L. Benjamin.

Mary Lou Benjamin will be fondly remembered for her selfless service, her talented hands, and the way she touched the lives of those she encountered. Her spirit lives on in the family, friends, and many she so kindly cared for, taught, and inspired.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date.

I Thessalonians 4: 13 - 18

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
