Obituary

In Loving Memory of Marquise (Q) Amond Austin Sr. Age 44

Q loved his family more than anything.

Marquise (Q) Amond Austin Sr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, August 17, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and will miss him more than words can say.

If you knew Q, you knew he had a big smile—but an even bigger heart. He loved hard, laughed often, and was never afraid to show how he felt. He made sure the people around him knew they were loved and appreciated, especially his wife, Kari. He believed in saying the words, giving the hugs, and letting people know how much they meant to him.

Q loved his family more than anything. He loved holidays, family gatherings, music, laughing, and just being together. He was especially proud of his wife and kids and loved showing off their pictures at work. You could always tell how much they meant to him.

Q also had a unique hobby that he truly enjoyed: lock picking. He loved figuring out how things worked and challenging himself to solve a puzzle. Kari always thought Q was a genius, and to her, there wasn't much he couldn't figure out. His curiosity and intelligence were just a few of the qualities that made him so special.

Q will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kari Austin (43); his children, Katelyn Hannah (18), Marquise Jr. (4 years), and Marqari (4 mo); his stepdaughter, Audra Brandimarte (19) his sisters, Veronica, Lori, and Brenda; his brothers, Eara, Quba, and Eddie Jr.; Uncle Tony Day; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; along with other family members and friends who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin Brookshire and Gloria Lee Austin.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1934 Bridge Street Northwest, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49504.
