Mark Phillip Allen

Mark P. Allen, of Mason, passed away at Sparrow Hospital on September 1, 2021 after a short illness. He was born on December 24, 1955 in Logansport, Indiana. He grew up in Adrian, Michigan and graduated from Adrian High School in 1974. Mark was the son of the late, Leroy Allen and Carrie Jane Thayer Allen. Time with his family was very important to him. He loved camping with his wife and children. Mark loved to fix things. He got his start in childhood by taking things apart and trying to put them back together. One of his earliest projects was his father's watch. Mark eventually sharpened his skills and went on to fix vehicles. He worked for Consumer's Power for many years and then went on to start his own heating and air conditioning business. He was also a great cook. He enjoyed making a chocolate lovers cake that he himself would eat 2/3 of and also would do the same with lasagna. But his favorite food was Marks birthday ( Angel food cake , chocolate chips, cool whip, and chocolate syrup) He was a long time foster parent, going on to adopt three of his foster children. He was an active member of his church, Capital City Baptist Church. He went on many mission trips around the world, helping to build and repair Church buildings. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Szichak Allen; his daughters, Samara Baker, Elizabeth Szichak and Ava Allen. He is also survived by his sons, Michael Allen, Phillip Allen and Ben Szichak (Tasha); his grandchildren, Lina and Ivan Szichak were the light of his life. Mark grew up in a big family and is survived by his five siblings, Roger (Catherine) Allen, Marcia Allen, Sandra (David) Allen, Pamela (Chris) Allen and Debra Tedder. Survivors also includes his nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at Capital City Baptist Church, 5100 W. Willoughby Road in Holt, Michigan on Tuesday September 7th at noon.
