Born on June 28, 1938, in Sparta, MI, Marilyn's life was characterized by her unwavering commitment to her loved ones and her nurturing spirit.

Marilyn embarked on her professional journey as a homemaker, dedicating herself to her family and home. Her remarkable tenure as a Food Lead Supervisor at Calvin College, where she served for 19 years, showcased her ability to lead with kindness and care. Graduating from Sparta High School in 1956 marked the beginning of a life filled with love, laughter, and a genuine passion for others.

Described as one of the kindest individuals one could ever meet, Marilyn exuded a quiet strength and possessed a delightful sense of humor. Throughout her life, she faced numerous health battles, each one met with tremendous courage and her enormous faith. This resilience only deepened the respect and admiration those around her felt for her.

Marilyn cherished her family above all else and took immense pride in their accomplishments. She was blessed with a loving spouse, Ron Chapman, with whom she shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they created a nurturing environment for their children: Lisa Hunter and her fiancé Scott Kloosterman, Dave Chapman, Darryl and Karen Chapman, and Michelle and Allan Paepke. The joy of being a grandmother and great-grandmother brought Marilyn immense happiness, as she embraced her role surrounded by her 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

In her free time, Marilyn found joy in simple pleasures, often seen solving puzzles or tending to her beautiful plants. These hobbies provided a tranquil outlet for her nurturing nature, and she delighted in sharing these moments with family.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Edna (Lamoreaux) Topping, her brother Gerald Topping, and her daughter-in-law Marcia Chapman. Their memories remain etched in the hearts of those who loved her.

As her family and friends mourn the loss of this extraordinary woman, they take comfort in celebrating a life filled with love, strength, faith and unwavering devotion to family. Marilyn Chapman’s legacy will endure through the countless lives she touched with her gentle spirit and kind heart.
