Lori Raven Bachelder passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by her children.
Lori was born on June 7, 1959, to Marilyn (Petersen) Raven and E. Dean Raven, formerly of Scottville, Michigan. Lori, the baby of the family, was known for her easy-going attitude and good humor. Lori attended West Shore Community College and then Michigan State University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in advertising. After a few years as a sales representative, Lori met her late husband, Bradford (Brad) Bachelder, and continued to put her sales skill to good use running their business, Bachelder Master Gunmakers, Inc. Customers, many of which became good friends, relied on Lori for a good deal and even better conversation.
Lori loved to spend her time outdoors, whether jet ski racing and enjoying the beach, hunting for morel mushrooms, gardening, or walking her beloved dogs. Lori also loved to spend time doing crafts where she would make beautiful stained-glass pieces, sew, and cross-stitch. But more than anything, Lori deeply loved her four children and was always there for them with a sympathetic ear, a good meal, and some “Ms” (M&Ms).
Lori was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Brad Bachelder, her parents Marilyn and Dean Raven, and her niece Mikala Raven. Lori will be missed by her children Carson Bachelder, Allison Van Prooyen, Parker Bachelder, and Allyse (Adam) Homan; grandchildren Teigan, Charlotte, and Aiden VanProoyen, Jordan, Cadence, and Carly Bachelder, and Elle Homan; siblings Mark (Taryn) Raven, Marcia (Rodger Peace) Raven, Chris (Vickie) Raven; sisters-in law Kayle (Chris) Anderson and Michelle Terhaar; many nieces and nephews, and numerous other friends and loved ones.
