Linda M. McKerchie, age 74 of Kincheloe, Michigan, unexpectedly passed away July 13, 2026, at Corewell Health-Heart Center in Grand Rapids. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan on August 3, 1951, to parents Frank & Elaine (Galonska) Brogan.
Linda grew up in Saginaw and attended St. Mary's Cathedral high school and graduated in 1969. Her first husband, Danny Sawyer II, preceded her in death in October of 1992. She found love again and on September 8, 2000, Linda married Russell McKerchie at the Point Iroquois Lighthouse on the bay in Brimley, Michigan.
Linda was an avid reader, crocheter and thrifter. She enjoyed walking the beaches for glass and other treasures, visiting lighthouses and loved birdwatching, but her passion was caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved playing games and toys with the kids and kept them busy for hours having fun adventures. She especially loved the weekly sleepovers with her great-grandson Lukas. Nurturing came very easy to her, taking care of us is what she loved to do. She also found joy in managing the “Jack and his Crew” goat fan Facebook group.
She is survived by her husband Russ; sons: Dan (Lisa) Sawyer and Steven (Tina) Sawyer; daughters: Paula (Denise) McJohnson and Shannon Sawyer; stepsons: Russ (Sheryl) McKerchie, James McKerchie and Michael (Christina) McKerchie; siblings: Ron Brogan, Marilyn Markey, Susan Call, Mike Brogan & Kathy Gembrowski.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank & Elaine Brogan and siblings: Ruth Powell, Larry Brogan & Joanne Brogan.
A graveside service will take place on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 1 p.m. at Donaldson Cemetery on M129 in Sault Ste Marie. Please keep her loved ones in your hearts and prayers as they grieve.
