Larry Browley

May 6, 1950 — January 9, 2024

Larry Browley, spoken of affectionately as "Lil' Red Head" by Grandma Russell and some family members, passed away on January 9, 2024, in his hometown of Grand Rapids, MI, due to complications from diabetes. Born into this vibrant community, Larry’s life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and artistry that left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched.

Larry's journey began in Grand Rapids, where he attended Godwin High School and discovered a passion for art that would define much of his colorful character. His talent was undeniable, culminating in a massive hand-drawn and painted mural that he left behind to grace the halls of his alma mater. Larry's creative spirit was matched by his affable nature and his courage to embrace life's challenges with a smile.

In his professional life, Larry put forth considerable effort to be good at what he did. In his early days at Keebler he worked hard. Later his hands were again found in the world of paint... house painting, before ultimately joining the team at Superior Asphalt. Throughout his career, Larry's friendly demeanor made him a favorite among those in his circles.

As a testimony to Larry's heart, he would take care of others when they were in a bad way.

Larry's love for conversation and his great sense of humor were ever-present, making those moments with him a joy. His laughter was infectious, and his courage in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all who knew him, because he kept up the fight, in spite of the struggles.

Surviving Larry are his two loving children, Cheyne Bell and Angela Bush, who will carry forward his grandchildren, Lynn Jones-Bush (along with Lynn Jr, Attmad, and Essien), Malique Bush (along with Zane, Zavyan, and Zhanae), and Zaire Jones (along with, Nova Jones), each of whom keep his memory alive.

Larry's memory will also be treasured by his brothers, Les (and wife Ann) Browley, and Rick Browley; his sisters, Michelle James and Karen Nabors; and his special friends, Mary Browley, Greg James Sr, and Pam Browley. His life was a rich tapestry woven with the love and camaraderie of many treasured relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Percy Browley Sr.; his mother, Mae Bell Browley (Russell); and his brothers, Percy Browley Jr. and Roger A. Browley. Each of them held a special place in his heart and helped shape the man he became.

Larry will be remembered as a man of great humor and friendliness, whose courageous spirit never waned. His legacy is not only in the art he created but also in the love he shared and the lives he brightened. Though we can not deny there are painful experiences in Larry Browley's story, it is the life he lived, with many moments that will continue to bring smiles to the faces of those who recount the good times.

As we bid farewell to Larry, we celebrate a life that, though it has ended, will live on through the memories we cherish and the impact he made on us. Larry Browley's personality can be a beacon of joy and creativity, guiding us through our own way and time of grieving with the echo of his laughter and the strokes of his brush.

Larry is resting peacefully until John 5:28 & 29 occurs.
