King Quin Stone

May 7, 1966 — May 31, 2026

Shelby

Most of all, he relished the company of friends, surrounding himself with the warmth of camaraderie and laughter.

King Quin Stone, fondly known by all as Quin, passed away on May 31, 2026, in his cherished hometown of Shelby, Michigan—the very place where, sixty years earlier, his journey began on May 7, 1966. Quin’s life, though no longer with us, leaves an indelible imprint on the hearts of those who loved and knew him.

Born as the youngest of eight, Quin’s spirit was shaped amidst the constant companionship of his siblings. Even as a child, he was seldom seen alone, known for following his brothers and sister from place to place, determined to be alongside them and share in whatever adventure awaited. It is a treasured memory—Quin trailing behind, always wanting to do what his siblings were doing, happy just to be part of the moment. That loyalty and devotion to his family never faded. As an adult, he remained close to his older brothers and sisters, sharing not only their lives but their love and laughter. In turn, he was deeply loved by them, a bond that endures in memory even as we mourn his passing.

Quin built a life grounded in hard work and steadfastness, dedicating himself to a career in construction. He was a proud graduate of high school in Shelby, a community he never truly left behind. Whether on the job site or walking the familiar streets of his hometown, Quin’s easy kindness and generous heart were unmistakable. He would help anyone if he could—always ready to lend a hand, always putting others before himself.

Outside of work, Quin found his greatest joy under vast open skies. He loved being outdoors: fishing whenever he could, casting lines with patience and hopefulness, sleeping beneath the stars, and letting the night’s breeze lull him to rest. Music was also close to his soul; moments spent playing guitar, strumming familiar chords, filled him with peace. Most of all, he relished the company of friends, (at the Ladder) surrounding himself with the warmth of camaraderie and laughter.

Those who survive Quin mourn his absence while cherishing his memory: his sister Alice, his brothers Ted and Phil, and Linda and Laura, who are spouses of family or friends whose lives were also touched by Quin’s kindness and presence.

He is joyfully remembered and mournfully missed by a great family now joined together in his memory. Quin was preceded in death by his father Ted; his mother Wahnetta; (Pat)his brothers Keith, Anthony, and Frank; his sister Mary Ann; his brother-in-law Art Schmidt; his sister-in-law Linda; aunts and uncles; and dear cousins. Now, he rests amongst them, forever part of the story they all shared.

Though words can scarcely contain the quiet strength and loving nature Quin brought to the world, those blessed to walk even a part of life’s path by his side will never forget him. His laughter, his generosity, and the songs he played—all these live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Details about services to honor Quin’s life will be set at a later date. As we remember King Quin Stone, may we each find comfort in knowing how much he loved and was loved in return, and may we carry his spirit with us as we continue to walk beneath the open sky he so dearly cherished.
