Ken Weber passed away on Veterans Day 11-11-23. He is preceded by wives; Nadine (passed 2020) of 35 plus years of wedlock, and Marlene (Pug) Eurek (passed 1976) of 18 years who died of cancer. Ken served his nation proudly in the US Army, and spent his early career in the boating industry where he won the prestigious honor of "Man-of-the-Year" in 1963 working for AeroCraft in St Charles, MI. Ken and his first wife Pug, along with other partners, owned a bar at the communities golf course; their friendship group being anchored there. As the sport of snowmobiling evolved, Ken kept on the cusp of faster machines. Being a man of self-determination, he moved to Paris MI starting Michicraft Canoes with his tight knit pact, happily settling into the community. Ken finished his career selling modular homes for South Park Homes Inc., which broadened his connection to the people of Paris. He was an avid bowler and golfer, hunted and fished catching the prized large blue marlin that adorned his home. During retirement Ken enjoyed spending time with Nadine, countryside rides and dining locally being among their favorite activities. He worked out at the gym during early morning, socialized at the coffee shops and frequented Hawkins Bar. His step sons Rick Mitchell (Laine and family April, Chelsea), Rodney Mitchell, (Crystal and family Kyle, Kevin, Cory, Callie, Casey), and Bob Mitchell (Kelly and family Jennifer, Joshua) were there to nurture Ken and Nadine as they gracefully aged. Nieces Mina Neitzke, Kim Kippert, Karil Neitzke, nephews Mark Neitzke, Craig Neitzke had the enjoyment of this “loving and special Uncle’s visits into their lives at family holidays and gatherings. He will be sorely missed and hold an ever-special place in all the hearts he touched over his wonderful life.
Ken will be buried (along with Nadine’s ashes) at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, MI 49012 in care of Grand Rapids Cremation Services. No services or memorials are planned and any memorial contributions in Ken and Nadine’s memory should be made to Hospice of Michigan, 400 Perry Ave, Big Rapids, MI 49307. Special thanks from the family to longtime family friend Patty Maguire for her dedication in checking in on Ken most evenings, and to Hospice of Michigan and Papa’s Place Adult Day Care of Reed City and their staff for helping us through the final years of tending to Ken’s needs.
